A few sites I have read recommend leaded fuel for the Trabi (or unleaded with a lead additive) mixed with the oil. Does nayone have any comments? |

Good Morning, the Trabi does not need leaded fuel, but it does not harm either. Here in Germany we have unleaded fuel only and our Trabis work well with it. These additives are not needed also. The Trabi does not have any valves in its engine and therefore no valve seats too. The problem with unleaded fuel was, that some old engines needed the lead as some kind of buffer on the valve seats, because these were not hard enough. |

Lead has also a slightly influence on the burning tempererature, but less than a correrctly set ignition point. You can use unleaded fuel as well as leaded fuel, i'd just choose the cheaper one
